Owl Form & Function

Hunting at night is something that owls do better than any other bird, and an owl’s body is precisely adapted for night living. In this project, I studied how an owl’s appearance is related to its superb abilities as a nocturnal predator, and sought to explain key elements to the reader.

The project began with several trips to Seattle’s Burke Museum. Their extensive collection of skeletons and skins includes hundreds of eagle owl specimens, which proved invaluable to my research.
